Makeup Bag Detox - Girl Parties!

Ladies...

With the Christmas season approaching & chilly nights around the corner, its time to change our makeup & skin care routine.

I know many of my girlfriends have shared with me that they have all of this makeup that they have spent a fortune on...& just don't know how to apply it or use it properly. Lots of times, you may be offered a free makeover & then sold a bunch of products that just sit in your makeup bag unused.

For the past 11 years that I have been a makeup artist & esthetician, I have tried many many products. I know what works & what doesn't work. These are the tips I share with my clients & would love to share with you.

One of my many services that my clients love is my "Makeup Bag Detox Parties".
These parties are so fun to have. When you host a party, I come to your place...you invite your girlfriends, have some wine & appys...everyone brings their makeup bags. These parties range from 4-6 people. Each person will have an makeup assessment done & get to pick one thing that they would like to be trained on. I will then apply a makeup lesson for the group, so that each person gets to ask a makeup question....like ie. cover dark cirles? have fuller lips?...bring out my eyes? eyebrow help?.

I will help each one in the group with what to keep in their makeup bag & what to toss. With that help I will teach you how to use what you already have & help with what to add to your makeup bag that you can use & most importantly..know how to use.This is such a great way to have a fun night with your best friends & do something a little different & fun.

I am currently booking parties for October, November & December in the Saskatoon area. If you would like to book a party for your teen, we can discuss details on training for the girls. These parties are different based on their age & teaching them skin care & makeup training for their age group.

A photographer for your group party can be arranged as well.

Style in the Sun!

I'm loving the sun...what a beautiful weekend.

Today has been a perfect day to garden, play outside & splash in the pool.
After all that fun with the kids, I think its time to put on my fave. sundress, turn on some music & have a glass of wine.

Style today in the sun with a great sundress or a white tee & a great pair of shorts.

What I'm Wearing Today!

Thought it would be fun to start sharing some of my styling secrets & what I'm wearing....whether i'm doing laundry, taking the kids to school, or going out to dinner with friends & getting all dolled up!

So first things first... I'm in love with new Stella & Dot fall collection.
One of my favourite tips is having what I call my "go to pieces". They are a collection of a few faves that I know will look fabulous, especially when I'm in a hurry & don't have time to sort out what to wear....which happens all the time with three kids.

So today for example. Its Sunday...tons of things to do around the house, grocery shopping etc.
My first go to piece are my lululemon pants....no one can go wrong with this! A total go-to piece!
Then I threw on a really cute bright blue tank top. My hair is a mess & I don't have time to deal with it (or want to). So... I'm wearing of my fave. baseball caps with a side ponytail. ( if you have really short hair...you can also put on a headband...super cute)

And last but not least my go to jewelry pieces. These are a must.
So I am wearing my new super hot studded trifecta wrap...& ladies this bracelet is a must have!
Also wearing another go-to piece...My 30' long silver necklace with charms. Its easy to dress this piece up or down. Love it...plus you have endless options of charms, birthstones, initials & a choice of silver or gold in everything! Or mix & match.

My other jewelry pieces are the Stackable Deco Rings & My Essential Ball Studs in Silver.

This just ties my whole look together, its simple, its fun, its trendy...& now I can tackle my home projects In Style!

Langara College Fashion Photoshoots!

I was recently called to provide makeup & hair for fashion photoshoots at Langara College. A good friend of mine & professional makeup artist as well, Scarlett Ballantyne...called me to see if I was available for this gig...& I'm so glad she did.

The fashion photography is instructed by Lurenda Mastromonaco-Gilder and she is amazing!

I have had such a wonderful time getting to be creative in my work as a makeup artist & to work with such talented people.

For this photoshoot we were going for a little boho/70's vibe.
I love working with Cecila, not only is she stunning but she is a great model & a total sweetheart.

Styling by Martina Kiridzija, who is so awesome at what she does but also so much fun to work with.

All the photographers are so talented & its so nice to view the final results.

Summertime Makeup

Okay Ladies.....

Its time to change your winter time makeup routine & get that summer glow.
My first tip is sunscreen on your face!

If you want the summer time glow without the sun damage, here are some great ways to achieve your look.

Here we go!

1. The best makeup looks... always start with your skin. The key if you are dry or peeling from to much sun....is moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Skin care is a must!

2. Check your winter time makeup, you are probably a shade or two darker this season & you do not want to use your winter makeup. White face...tan neck...doesn't match up. Its time to purchase a new summer shade.

3. If you need to conceal some problem areas, start with concealing those areas first.

4. One of my favourite products is next. The body shop carries one that I love...Glow Enhancer Tinted and it comes in three different shades. This is a nice light summer time makeup, perfect!

The Body Shop has them on sale for $5 right now! They come in three different shades.

5. Use a bronzer with a really good makeup fluff brush...not to much & just gently sweep across the forward the cheeks, down the neck & chest.
Check for a matte one, or one that isn't too sparkly...cause that can be a bit much.

6. Cheeks....Mac's Cream Colour Bases are awesome & they sit on the skin so nicely.

A nice glossy lip, waterproof mascara & you are summer ready!
